The Father’s Heart

thThe Father’s heart is the setting of the home.  It is his attitude of love that determines how smoothly the home life of the family is based upon.  Oh I know we hear it said so many times that, “a happy wife is a happy life”, and though there is truth in that too, I think it is said so much just because it rhythms because it’s also true of the husband’s happiness for a happy home.  Men were created in the Image of God and God is love, so men I say to you be brave and live your life based on the God kind of love.

Love is the basis for and of everything our Heavenly Father does.  Man was created in this Fatherly-God-like Image and therefore men have within them this built-in sense of “take charge” attitude. It is who they are and meant to be.  The problem arose with Adam’s disobedience. Adam, created in God’s Image, was given authority and dominion and he was to take charge of the Garden of Eden and to keep it (Genesis 1:26, 2:15).  This authority of God was based on His love and acceptance of His creation.  However, Adam failed to walk properly in this God-given-authority and because of his disobedience he lost or actually gave away that position of authority to the god of this world-Satan (Genesis 3, 2 Corinthians 4:4).  As a result of this switch of authority, all humanity was thrust into a spiritual spiral of defeat, fear and rejection, affecting every area of life: spiritual, physical, mental, and financial.  Man could not redeem himself because redemption demanded a sinless sacrifice, a perfect sacrifice, and mankind now was not sinless or perfect.  God so loved the world that He didn’t want to leave mankind in this predicament of the sinful nature resulting in condemnation, so, He sent His Son Jesus, the perfect and sinless sacrifice, to redeem us (John 3:16-18).  Jesus with His obedience purchased back the authority that Adam lost with his disobedience (Romans 5:12, 5:19).

When we accept Jesus’ sacrifice of death, burial and resurrection, we exchange our sinful nature for His Righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Accepting Jesus gives us a right standing with God and we become a member of the Family of God. Is it that simple?  Yes, Salvation is that simple for us.  It is free for us, but it had a high-cost-value of Jesus’ Blood.  We learn in Matthew 18:14 that Father God desires that no one should perish but have ever lasting life, and we must understand that for His desire to come to pass, we must make the decision to receive His Gift of Salvation.

The heart of our Heavenly Father is one of love, blessing and acceptance.  His love provided the way out of our sin nature.  His blessing provided healing for our bodies and minds and wisdom to financially make our life prosperous.  Jesus’ Blood is the basis for our acceptance and assurance that God will not and does not reject us.  The heart of a father wants fellowship with his children.  The heart of God wants fellowship with His children.

So today as we celebrate the fathers in our lives for their love and support-our father, brothers, and friends-giving them honor, respect and remembering all they have done for us; let’s also celebrate our Heavenly Father for his love, support and providing all we will ever need.  Thank You Heavenly Father, we love, honor and reverence you this day and every day.
