downloadHave you ever thought about what it means to walk by faith?  When I younger I never much thought about what faith was or is, or that I was the one in control of my faith.  Now that’s really something to think about: that each of us alone are the one responsible for our faith; how great and strong it is, and whether we us it to receive the God’s blessings. God is the origin of our faith in that the Bible itself tells us in Ephesians 2:8 that not only is grace His gift to us but also faith is a gift of God.

I remember when I first learned about walking by faith.  I was learning that God had provided healing for us by the stripes on Jesus’ back.  I learned that Jesus is the Word sent to heal us. (Psalm 107:20)  In learning of God’s provision, I also learned my responsibility in receiving His blessings.  I learned that I had to speak to the sickness that my body was experiencing; the Bible calls it “speaking to the mountain”.  I learned to speak healing into my body and to rebuke the sickness attacking my body. (Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:23)

God desires for us to have faith and Romans 12:3 tells us that God has dealt to each of us the measure of faith.  But to grow in our faith and have a strong, steady, powerful faith we must continuously be hearing the Word of God. Romans 10:17 informs us that the more we hear the Word of God, the more our faith grows.  We also learn from Galatians 3:26 and John 3:16 that we become heirs of God (sons and daughters) through faith in Christ Jesus.

By faith we have understanding of God’s Word. Hebrews 11:3

By faith we receive forgiveness from God. Ephesian 1:7, Acts 26:18

By faith we receive the righteousness God has provided in Christ Jesus.  Romans 3:22

By faith we received healing for our body, emotions, and mind.  Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24

By faith we forgive others for hurting us. Forgiving others is a choice.  Luke 6:37, John 20:23

By faith we receive forgiveness from God. 1 John 1:9

By faith we receive wisdom from our Lord.  James 1:5

You and I determine what level of faith we have; and whether we have good faith, great faith, little faith, much faith, or no faith.  Understand that just because a person hears the Word of God that doesn’t mean they have faith; a person must believe the Word of God and act on it. Remember the crowd around Jesus when the woman with the issue of blood received her healing? There was a multitude of people surrounding Jesus but she is the only one the Bible records who got healed.  I think it is safe to say that there were probably others in the crowd who needed healing too; but they didn’t activate their faith by believing in Jesus and acting on it.

As Christians, these are spiritual principles truths that we need to know to live victoriously in this life.  Walking by faith is done by believing what God says in His Book, the Bible, and by living in obedience according to His Word.   Walking by faith is an exciting way of life; it pleases God; it brings the blessings of God into our lives and enables us to bless others.
