Easter Means Deliverance

Last week we celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. His death and resurrection are all about deliverance; deliverance from sin and all its many facets of destruction.

In 2018 I wrote a devotional on deliverance; here is the link if you’d like to read it.  https://maryruwe.wordpress.com/2018/02/12/deliverance-begins-with-a-choice/

In that devotional I gave my testimony of my deliverance from fear, timidity, and shyness that lead to depression. I also talk about a dream I had that actually gives a good picture of how good versing evil lurks around us and sometimes in our heart at times, so be sure to read that devotion.

God’s provision of deliverance in the Name and Blood of Jesus sets us free from the strongholds that encompass us in our everyday lives. God’s willingness to provide deliverance through Salvation in His Son Jesus Christ is proof of His powerful love for us. However, we must understand that we have a part in whether we receive the deliverance God has provided, and it begins with the desire to be free.

It is up to us to receive and submit to the provision of deliverance He gives – which is believing and confessing Jesus as our Savior and Lord. Our next choice is to walk – or live – in His deliverance by our continuing to make choices that keep us in fellowship with Him.

Please understand that whatever we have must be maintained: whether it’s in the natural realm such as a house, a yard, a garden, or a car; or in the spiritual realm such as our relationship with our God and Father, Jesus our Savior, our faith, our healing etc. So I encourage you to make choices that set proper priorities in your life that will keep your faith walk in agreement with God’s Word.

God is constantly working in our lives to produce good works through us that not only bring glory to Him but also bring blessings to those around us. (Ephesians 2:10) Our ability to keep and maintain our freedom that Jesus gives us is in direct proportion to the time and effort we give to being a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. (James 1:25).

A person’s deliverance begins with a desire to be free and, being born again. If we want to spend eternity in heaven then we must follow the instructions in God’s Word. Jesus himself said in John 3:3 that we must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. When a person believes in their heart and confesses with their mouth that Jesus died on the Cross for their sins, and that God raised Him to life again, they are born again (Romans 10:9-10). Second Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” If you just said that prayer, congratulations, you are now a member of the family of God!

Whether you just made Jesus Lord of your life now or some time ago, it is of the utmost importance to maintain your relationship with God and Jesus. Decide now to always place Jesus first place in your life; begin each day with prayer and Bible reading; and think on the Word throughout each day to keep your thoughts, actions, and words pleasing to God.
