Standing For Righteousness

Our Country needs help. We have many problems across our Nation but specifically in the levels of government. The only way we can solve these issues is with the help of God. Some many say that God has no business in politics, but God is very must interested in how nations are governed. The whole Bible is filled with His interaction with nations. We are covering only two Scriptures that tell us that God is interested in the political issues of a country: Proverbs 29:2 and Second Chronicles 7:14.
Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule the people groan.”
2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The Bible scriptures give us understanding of how God wants a country governed, but I think these two are the most explicit. The one tells us why He wants the righteous in authority; the other tells us how and what we must do to allow God to help us. The Christian must be humble before God; seek His face, which means to pray and know Him. The Christian must turn from their wicked ways of allowing government make laws that go against the Word of God. It is then that God will hear our prayers, forgive us, and heal our land.
Here in the United States of America, we have the right and duty to vote. It’s that simple. God will hold each person accountable for their part in how our Nation is governed. If we do not vote for the platform that most aligns itself with the principles of God, then we are voting against God. We need to entreat the help of God so we can vote righteously. That means we vote for the platform that most aligns itself with the values of God.
How we vote is an indication of how we value our stewardship of our freedoms. Romans 14:12, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
So I say to my fellow-country-men-and women: take your right and privilege and vote. Vote righteously. Every vote counts.

very well said Mary! I stood in line for an hour and a half to vote this morning. It was such a joyful occasion! I felt so privileged to have my voice heard through my vote. God has been so good to give us such a great nation where every person’s voice can be heard through their ballot. Thank you Jesus!
