This is January and the new year has begun. Some people have made new commitments and set new goals to accomplish this year. I have a couple myself. God is all about us starting anew. According to Lamentations 3:22-23, it’s because of the Lord’s great love for us. His compassions never fail and are new every morning; His faithfulness is great. God gives a new believer a new beginning by making him/her a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). What wonderfully great news – that God Himself gives us a new nature – a nature like His. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! And then even if we sin, He gives us a way to be forgiven and be cleansed from that sin. First John 1:9 teaches us that, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” What a wonderful way to start a new year – by knowing God’s great love for us, His forgiveness, and His cleansing power. God truly IS faithful.

How many times do we get to begin again, you might ask. As many times as needed until we get our walk with God perfected – which, by the way, will take our lifetime here on earth because we are constantly learning how to walk in the truths of His Word. So don’t grow weary in learning to walk in the love of God, or in the ability to forgive others – and yourself. Just don’t give up. Keep your faith strong by always reading the Bible and praying.

Let each of us be determined to finish the race/goals/calling that God has given us. Keep looking forward and upward for the day of His appearing when He will give us (believers) the crown of righteousness, glory to God!
