God’s Love And Mercy

The other day as I was praising the Lord, I always thank him for his love and his mercy. We should never forget the wonderful blessings He bestowed on believers because of His love and His mercy. Without His love and mercy for mankind, He would not have sent Jesus to save us (John 3:16).

There are many Scriptures that show God’s mercy for those who love him and keep his commandment, here are just a few (Exodus 20:6, Deuteronomy 5:10, and 7:9).

Other Scriptures state that He keeps His covenant of mercy and love with those who observe His commandments (Nehemiah 1:5, Dnaiel l9:4). And in Micah 6:8, we read that God requires us to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humble with Him.

Observing His commandments means we live a lifestyle of obedience to His Word. In other words, we look for ways to live a life pleasing to Him; which would include – above all things – living by faith because Hebrews 1:16 informs us that “without faith it is impossible to please Him.” This kind of faith, love, and mercy is not just when we feel like it, it’s an everyday lifestyle of living by faith that is seen by how we love and show mercy to others.

God showed us mercy when He sent Jesus to take the punishment of our sins so He could give us His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). God showed us His love and mercy when He removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). God shows His love and mercy for us by also providing healing and forgiveness (Psalm 103:3).

Ephesians 5:1 instructs us to be imitators of God. When we imitate Him, it is seen in how we forgive others who have hurt us, in our kindness to each other, and when we pray for those who are sick to be healed (Ephesians 4:32, James 5:14-15).

I encourage you to make daily commitments to imitate God in whatever you do and wherever you go, and by doing so we show God’s love and mercy to a world who need Him.
