Faith And Patience

Faith and patience go together. Believe it or not – patience is a spiritual virtue, a very powerful trait of excellence. Patience is something everyone needs in their life. Patience will keep us from wavering in our faith (James 1:6), and it’s a strength against the spirit of anger, jealousy, and envy etc. Being patient gives us time to pray, and consider the consequences of our about-to-be-actions. Patience helps us to avoid making impulse decisions.

Lack of patience could be the cause of your rising debt problem because you don’t want to wait until you’ve saved money for an item and you over-spend! A lack of patience shows up in our conversations too; when we interrupt others and don’t let the other person finish speaking before we give a response. Not completely listening to what others say often times leads to jumping to conclusions to what they haven’t even had a chance to say yet! Making quick conclusions more often than not lead to error.

Everyone deals with frustrations in their daily lives and a lack of patience breeds irritability, which then leads to speaking words that we wished later we had not spoken. Decisions made with wrong motive can also be a result of impatience.

We learn from Luke 21:19 that it’s with patience that we possess our soul. If we possess something, then we are in control of it! Our soul is our mind and emotions and we need to keep our thinking and feeling calm and in line with the Word of God.

God is patience and we are to be likeminded toward one another (Romans 15:4-5). It is by following faith and patience that we inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12). Patience sustains our hope for the manifestation of what we are believing for; faith, hope, patience, and love work together; if we lack one, it hinders the others from their best work in our heart.

I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to help you to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow anger. Then also look for the calmness and peace in your heart and life that’s a result of your patience and faith.
