Parable Of The Talents

You have talent or perhaps even more than one. God has placed within you the means to be a blessing to others. Have you ever thought that the kindness you show to your family, friends, and neighbors fall within the guidelines of you exhibiting your God-given talent as He intends? There are some people who think they are not important in the Kingdom of God but that’s because they are not seeing themselves as God sees them; a vessel of His love flowing through them to others.
In Matthew 25:14-28 we read about the Parable of the Talents. Five talents were given to one; to another two talents; and to another one talent. The true point in this parable is not how many talents each received but what they did with them. Verse 15 tells us that each one was given according to his own ability. This does not mean that we are stuck with only the gift or gifts given us because as we continue to read, we see were two of the people double their talents, or increased them. This parable clearly teaches that we can increase our talents which can mean either in the actual number talents, or an increase in our proficiency of the gifts we have been given. I believe that both increases have to do with our level of faith in believing God for those increases.
It’s God’s grace which gives us talents, but it is up to us to become proficient in using them; we decide what to do with them! And that is done according to our faith. Romans 10:17 clearly tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. So, that leads me to believe that the more we know of God’s Word, of His character, His principles, and His promises, the more faith we have to believe Him for increase in our ability to use our gifts.
We either work to use and increase our talents, or we hide them. God called the two who increased their talents faithful, and rewarded them. Whereas the one who hid his talent, God called him wicked and slothful, and took from him his one talent. God rewards us with revelation knowledge of how to use our talents, and also rewards us for using our talents. Don’t limit the increase of your talents by your own limited thinking. God is not limited on how we can use our talents for Him. He is full of ideas! The strength and fruition of our ability to use our talents, and faith, is dependent on our level faith in His Word.
Jesus told the centurion that as he believed, it would be done (healing for his servant) (Matthew 8:13). He told the woman with the issue of blood that it was her faith that made her whole (Matthew 9:22). Then again in Matthew 9:29 Jesus told two blind men that their healing was according to their faith. It is our faith in God that brings His blessings to us. It is our faith that pleases God. And He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
Ask Him for divine revelation as to how you are to serve Him with your talent(s); and watch His blessings come to you abundantly for your obedience. God loves you.
