The Power Of Choice

Every day, throughout the day, we make choices. We make decisions that not only affect our personal life but those around us. There are consequences or results to every decision we make. We are responsible for our choices. Every day carries multitudes of opportunities to show the love of Christ to others. When we show love to others, we are also showing our love for God.
We can be friendly or unfriendly. We can forgive others or harbor bitterness. We can be kind, or unkind. Every conversation gives us a chance to speak soft words, or harsh words (Proverbs 15:1).
We can choose to be generous with our financial giving or be stingy. Second Corinthians 9:6 tells us that whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
According to Isaiah 1:17 we are to learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. Verse 19 says when we are willing and obedient we will eat the good of the land. Or as Joshua 1:8 explains: when we observe to do according to what is written the Book of the Law/the Bible, we make our way prosperous and will have good success.
We have the choice to be obedient or disobedient to God. Choosing to serve God is not just a one-time decision but a life-time commitment. To me, the greatest and most important choice I have is to live according to God’s Word and bring glory to Him.
Another very important choice to make each day is to be thankful to God for His blessings. We should thank God daily for His love, mercy, forgiveness, and for His Son, Jesus Christ. Thankful for His plans for our lives and the good thoughts He has toward us (Jeremiah 29:11). Hallelujah!
I pray that this short study of the power of making right choices will motivate you to learn to walk in obedience to the Word of God.
