God’s Peace Is Possible

Having peace in our heart is possible even when the world around us is topsy-turvy. A peaceful heart comes from a close relationship with Almighty God through His Son, Jesus. Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:6, that we would hear of wars and rumors of wars, but that we are not to be troubled.
In John 14:27, Jesus states, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” You may be asking if that’s possible, and I tell you, yes, it is possible. However, it takes faith in God to receive His peace in our heart.
Our natural mind may find it hard to understand peace when everything around us is not peaceful. But know that God’s peace comes from His Spirit into our spirit when we keep our mind focused on Him. When our spirit is filled with His Word it produces His peace in our heart – and it is to rule the thoughts of our mind.
We find how to do this in Second Corinthians 10:5 with the instructions to “cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” Notice that we must have knowledge of God – His Word – in order to know what thoughts are not of Him. Bringing our thoughts into captivity means we set boundaries on what we will think about.
A good way to know what and how we are to think is to follow Philippians 4:8: whatsoever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, any virtue, and praiseworthy. When we follow those guidelines, we will experience the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, guarding our heart and mind through Christ Jesus.
I pray you will exercise your authority over your thoughts and allow God’s peace to reign in your heart.
