First Thoughts
8May 6, 2014 by maryruwe
When I was thinking of creating a blog I didn’t at first have any idea of what I should write. Then the other morning when I woke up and greeting the Lord…as I usually do. I get up and spend some time in prayer and reading the Bible. I thought about the day and all that was on my to-do list. And it came to me how we all have these “First Thoughts” but do we always pay attention to them. Do we listen for the Lord’s voice and what He has to say to us about the day ahead. Do we think about what we are thinking about? So that is the start of my blog, giving you insight to my first thoughts and hoping that they will be of interest and help to you in starting your day, and days ahead. So here is how my morning went.
Most often my first thoughts in the morning have to do with greeting the Lord. Usually I take a few minutes before I even get up to pray, for myself and the day ahead, for others, for my Country, etc., etc. My first thought this morning as I awoke was about fasting, and God gave me the name of the person I was to pray and fast for that day, so then I got up to read my Bible and pray. I like getting up early because the house is quiet and there is less likely to have interruptions while I’m praying. I started this when my children were young and I could have some “my time” before they woke up and my day began with them. Yes and that meant that there were days when it was very early, but it was always worth it. It is such a blessing to just take a few moments with God, thanking Him for all He has done for me and asking Him for direction and wisdom for the day. God is Good!
Scriptures: Matthew 6:5-18 when you pray; when you fast.

Mary, I sense the Lord in this and am excited to go on your daily journey with you.
Be encouraged…maybe I’ll do this someday. This is a good beginning, are you going to make this part of your “every morning” routine?
I plan to post once a week for now.
Looking forward to reading more, Mary! 🙂
Hi Mary,
Looks good, but I have no clue about this at all so hopefully you will get this. I look forward to reading your Blog regularly.
I really like what you are doing and look forward to seeing more. Like Enola I had know clue what a blog was and what to do. But I’m happy to say, after talking to my daughter I think I understand it! See you next time!
Very enjoyable reading, Mary, and so YOU!
Thanks Mary, it is good to know we are on the same page on this. Good thoughts
