Find Your Place in Prayer

Finding something valuable is always great; not just the end result can be a blessing, but the journey to that end can be exciting.   Prayer is that way.  It is exciting to see and hear the answers to prayers; but praying can be such a blessing for us who are praying.  God calls each of us to prayer and expects us to pray (Matthew 6:6)

Find or realize your purpose in prayer.

Our purpose in prayer is to bring the will of God into our lives and into the lives of others.   We are to pray in the Name of Jesus.  There is power in the Name of Jesus, for all authority has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18).   Prayer is powerful and sets in motion the power of God in all of our lives, and indeed in our nation and world.

You have the responsibility and privilege to pray as a child of God.

Prayer is a choice that each person has to decide.  Some people like getting up early in the morning to spend time with Father God and to pray, while the household is still quiet.  Some will find their quiet time later in the day or evening.  I personally like the early morning prayer time because it does set the tone for the day.  It starts my day with my eyes, heart, and thoughts on the Word and therefore helps me through the day to keep God in everything I do. However I also like spending some quiet time at the end of the day thanking God for His mercy, protection, wisdom and love.

Place yourself in the right attitude for prayer by praying.

Read the Bible and pray the Word.  Ask God to help you pray for others; family and friends, our nation, and Christians everywhere; pray for Israel.  Place your faith in the Word of God; pray His Word, and watch and see what He will accomplish in the hearts and lives of those you pray for.  This is a reasonable request and it is really not hard to do.  Our love for God will cause us to pray because we know He cares.  Prayer is not selfish; our prayers will include more than just ourselves and our family.  Prayer reaches out to those who need Jesus. Prayer is powerful when based on the Word of God.

Prayer is a conversation with the God of Creation.  Prayer is supplication and intercession (asking God earnestly and humbly, and on behalf and in favor for others).

It is fellowship with Him as our Creator, Father, Healer, Savior, Lord and Helper.  Prayer is speaking the Word over our lives and the lives of others.  Prayer is seeking God’s Will in every situation.  This is why it is so important to know what the Bible says so we can pray correctly.  Spend time learning more about the God who has saved you, healed you, and loves you, so you can be a prayer partner with Him.

1 Timothy 2:1  Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men.

Hebrews 7:25  Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Romans 8:34  It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Matthew 28:18  And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me, in heaven and on earth.

Matthew 10:1  And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.  (As believers we are Jesus’ disciples and therefore this authority carries over to us).

Purpose to find your place (time) to pray each day.  Be determined to spend more time in prayer.  It is when we spend more than just a few minutes in prayer that we begin to know the heart of God and hear instructions from Him as to how to pray.  So go ahead and be a warrior; be a prayer warrior.
