Christmas Is A Gift

thThis is Christmas week and I’m sure everyone is busy buying last minute gifts, wrapping them, putting up the last of the decorations, cleaning the house, planning the dinner menu, grocery shopping, and of course attending parties of celebration.  We hear the Christmas music in every store and see the lights decorating homes and businesses.  Although there is much commercialism involved, and as busy as we are, we CAN still be mindful of the REASON FOR THE SEASON-JESUS.

Christmas is more that a babe in a manger, for this baby grew up and became the Savior of the world.  He is the Savior that all of us need.  It’s more than a bright star in the sky that guided the Magi to the child who was born King of the Jews; it’s remembering that JESUS IS THE LIGHT to the world.  Jesus’ arrival was so important and grand that Father God sent angels to announce His birth (I always think of them as singing).  The gifts the Magi brought to honor and worship Jesus is our example of giving gifts to those we love.   Christmas is more than the gifts under the tree; it’s all about THE GIFT – JESUS – who was born to die on Calvary’s Tree to provide eternal life to us.  This season is all about Jesus, the Son of God.

So I encourage you that with each gift you wrap, each recipe you make, each light and decoration you hang, remember that JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. Keep your heart “merry” with thoughts of His Great Love.  Remember, without Jesus there would be no Christmas season; no lights, no merry music, no gifts, so make Jesus the center of your celebration.  Jesus is the Greatest Christmas Gift.

However to make the gift exchange process complete we need to give God a gift.  That gift is us; our heart, our love, our time, our gifts and talents.  Because we love Him we should make living for Him the top priority on our list.  God gave us the greatest gift of all when He gave us Jesus.  The greatest gift we can give God is to accept Jesus as our Savior.

Have a very blessed Christmas.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 10:9-10 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

John 14:16 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
