thToday is the day to make changes.  Look at each day as a new beginning, the opportunity to start over putting God first in your life.  Begin each morning acknowledging God and Jesus as your God and Savior, putting your trust in Him to guide you in all that you do.

Today is the day to Trust and be Thankful:  Each day we have opportunities to trust God and give Him thanks for all He has given us.  It is God who qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance He has provided in Jesus, making us heirs and joint-heirs with Jesus. (Colossians 1:12, Romans 8:17)  Therefore we should endeavor to live every day with a thankful heart, remembering all His benefits.  (Psalm 103:2)  We don’t have to understand everything before we trust Him or before giving Him thanks.  Giving thanks to God is a choice, a decision.  We can be thankful at all times, regardless of the circumstance or situation, because we know that God is with us and will bring us through every dark valley that wants to take us captive.  (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Today is the day to Obey and Overcome:  Obedience to live according to the Word of God is living in agreement with God’s Word which in turn brings God’s blessings to us.  God rewards those who diligently seek Him.  (Hebrews 11:6)  Seeking Him develops a desire to please Him which produces obedience in our lives.  Obedience is the means that brings victory into our lives; making us over-comers because Jesus is greater in us than the evil that wants to destroy us.  (1 John 4:4)  Whoever is born of God and exercises faith in God overcomes the world.  (1 John 5:5)  It is the Blood of Lamb (Jesus) and our testimony that bring victory in our lives.  (Revelation 12:11)  Our testimony of God’s goodness and mercy in our lives creates an atmosphere that draws others to Him.

Today is the day to decide and be diligent:  Making decisions can sometimes seem like a valley with different options all around us.  It is during those times we need to keep our focus on God’s Word, asking Him for wisdom to make the right decision. (James 1:5)  Each day we decide or choose who we will follow and serve so let us make decisions to follow the Lord.  (Joshua 24:15)  Being diligent means we take time to prepare our heart and mind by seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. (Matthew 6:33)  By giving our attention to His Word, keeping them in the midst of our heart, we are not ashamed, and we reap a life of enjoying the many blessings of God.  (Proverbs 4:20-21, 2 Timothy 2:15)

Today is the day to acknowledge and abide:  We must acknowledge who God is and what he has done. We also must know who we are in Him in order to walk in victory.  We will never walk in the power of Christ, fulfilling His plans for us, until we know who He is and who we are in Him.  Abide means to dwell.  A dwelling place is where a person lives.  Understanding that we are the temple of God helps us to live in the presence and power of God. When we abide in Him we have confidence that our prayers are heard.  When we acknowledge God we place ourselves in a position to receive His direction for our lives. (Proverbs 3:6)  When we abide in His Word daily, keeping His Commandments, we live in His presence and His love.   (John 15:7, John 15:10)

Today is the day to yield our will to the Lord’s will:  We must learn to yield our will and our way of thinking to His.  To yield means to be submissive, compliant, not rigid or stiff.  When we submit to God we present ourselves as instruments of righteousness unto Him which allows Him to change us from glory to glory.  (2 Corinthians 3:18)  We must continually be aware of the fact that we are His Temple and He dwells in us.  (1 Corinthians 3:16)  When we yield to God’s way of doing things we are committing our works unto Him; and then reap the benefits of our thoughts being established.  (Proverbs 16:3)  It is then that we walk in true victory, overcoming temptations that come to ensnare us and defeat us, and to live in the blessings of God through Jesus our Lord.

My prayer for this week is that we realize that each day is the day to renew our commitment to God – to read His Word, to pray, and to listen for His voice and to follow Him.  Have a great week walking with Jesus our Lord.
