Seeing Clearly

Seeing clearly; that’s a good thing, right? Right.  I had an eye appointment recently because my vision isn’t as sharp as it was after having cataract surgery a couple of years ago.  It seems that lens … or whatever … has clouded over a little and needs to be fixed.  I was thinking about how our vision affects everything in our lives.  If we don’t have good vision, we not only have trouble reading a book but perhaps even seeing far enough ahead to safely drive a car.  Hence, then need for corrective glasses or contacts.

This led me to think about our spiritual sight; how clear or how cloudy is it? We cannot use any worldly system as basis to judge the faithfulness of God. We must use the Bible, God’s manual that best defines who He is and what He does; and the Holy Spirit works like a corrective spiritual lens to help us see clearly the truths in the Bible. He teaches us how to live in agreement with God’s Word.

When I was a child, I knew there was a God and that He had a Son, Jesus. However, since I wasn’t taught that I should read the Bible at that early age I didn’t know about any of His great promises or that He cared about my everyday life.  In fact, I don’t actually remember having a Bible of my own when I was very young.  I was in my mid-twenties when I began to have a hunger and thirst for the Word of God.  I cannot ever thank Him enough for “not leaving me where I was” (in that frightful, fearful, depressed mentality); He not only redeemed me from the sin (nature) in my heart, but has delivered me from sicknesses, disease, and the spirit of fear.  It was when I found out who I was in Christ that set me free. It was when I read the Bible, read and listened to teaching truths that God revealed Himself to me and His truth set me free.

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Thank you, Jesus!  I am forever grateful.

So, I said all this to say, if you are in a difficult situation or having distorted thoughts plague you mind, turn to Jesus, that’s my solution for you, for me, and for everyone. God loves you and has great plans for you and wants you to be healthy and prosperous. (3 John 1:2) God wants you to be fearless not fearful. He wants you to know that He has NOT given you a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) When we are troubled by circumstances, we are to cast those cares over on Him because He cares for us and knows just how to bring blessings to us. (1 Peter 5:7) It is when we know how God wants us to live, and we take time to learn His ways, that we realize we have the power to cast down imaginations and thoughts that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.  (2 Corinthians 10:5) Because His Spirit is in us, we have the power to control our thinking, our emotions, our behavior, and our words.

Our thinking changes when we conform to the Word of God which allows Him to transform us by the renewing of our mind. (Romans 12:1-2) When we think correctly, we speak correctly bringing God’s blessings into our lives, for death and life are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21)

Correct thinking changes our words that changes our lives because eventually we will believe what we say, which is why it is so important to speak the truth; and according to Mark 11:24 we can have what we say when we believe.

Take time, more time, to look into the Word of God to see clearly His plan for your life.
