Resilience

Resilience is the word that keeps coming to mind the past few days. It means the ability of a body to regain its original size and shape after being compressed, bent, or stretched; an ability to recover from or adjust easily to change or misfortune.
The human race has had the misfortune of being compressed into a sin nature that is different from our original shape, the image of God, if you want to picture it that way.
The devil tries to constrict (compress) us into his evil ways; tries to bend our thoughts away from God, and steal our ability to be productive for God’s Kingdom.
Hopefully you are not totally depressed by reading all that, but I wanted to set the picture of what GOD HAS FREED US FROM, AND FREED US TO.
God has given us the ability in Jesus to recover from all the damage the devil has caused in our lives. We can easily adjust and change any misfortune in our lives to the goodness of God by recognizing and submitting to God’s authority – His Word – the Bible. It is that simple.
When we cry out to the Lord in our times of trouble, He saves us from those distresses; He brings us out of darkness and the shadow of death, and breaks the chains that hold us in bondage. (Psalm 107-13-14)
John 10:10 – the thief (the devil) comes to steal, kill, and destroy; but Jesus comes to give us life and life abundantly.
A thief does his work in darkness because he knows that light exposes his evil deeds. The devil tries to hide his work in your life so you (and I) won’t notice the damage he is trying to do. However, the Light of God pushes the darkness of the devil out of our lives.
Psalm 119:105, 119:30 – The Word of God gives us light for the path we are to walk; His Words gives us understanding. We are to let our light so shine that others will see the glory of God in us. (Matthew 5:16)
1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
When we live our lives in such a way that others see the resilience in our ability to change our lives, break from old habits that are destructive, create good habits that bring blessings and joy in our lives regardless of situations, they are drawn to God and will also want this transformation for themselves. This is the result of renewing our mind to the Word of God, promoting not only the regaining of our original nature of godliness but also having the ability to retain it to the glory of God. (Romans 12:2)
So, go ahead and be resilient for the Lord, adjust to His way of living and change your life for good.

Thank you, Jesus! May I trust in you and fully rely on you!
