Moving Forward

This is a new year so let’s move forward to reaching the goals and plans that God has for us. Let’s commit to living the way He wants us to live. When this year began, I felt in my spirit that a “page” had been turned over. I’m hopeful that this means the fears that people have been plagued with are over too.

My prayer at the beginning of this new year is for people to turn to God in repentance from sin, and have a commitment to living and serving Him. So, I say for us to let go of the past of hurts and disappointments, and reach forward to the promises of God for healing and hope. God can heal the brokenness of our heart when we come to Him. Psalm 34:18 teaches that, “the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” Contrite means to repent. The Bible teaches us that when we repent, Jesus is faithful to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

It is not necessary to forget the past to avoid the pain of the past, but it necessary to ask God for healing so the memory of the past is not painful. The past is just that – the past. We don’t have to deny the past in order to be free from the past. How? With God. All things are possible with God. (Matthew 19:26, Mark 9:23) When we forgive those who have hurt us, we set ourselves free to receive the healing blessings of God.

We cannot change the past but we can change our future. How? By believing and speaking God’s Word into our lives, because the Bible tells us that “as we think so are we”, and that we “can have what we say”. (Provers 23:7, Mark 11:23-24) When we change our thinking to think God’s Word, then our words will be in agreement with His Word, and then we shall have what His Word says belongs to us.

Have a very Happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
