The Healer Within

Jeremiah 30:17, For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds, says the Lord.

Recently I’ve been reading a lot of scriptures regarding healing. Romans 8:11 tells us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in believers; and it is this same Spirit that also gives life to our bodies. There’s no sickness or disease in God, so neither is there any in Jesus. As a believer in Jesus Christ as my Savior, that means the Savior and the Healer lives in me! He lives in every believer. By faith we are to release into our bodies the healing power that resides in our spirit. Everything we receive from God is done by our faith in Him. The stronger our faith in God, the easier to receive from God. Stronger faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

Most people don’t have a problem believing that Jesus the Savior lives within them; but seem to bulk when someone suggests that Jesus the Healer lives within them. We must understand that the Savior and the Healer are one and the same person and that He lives in every believer. When we realize that all of God’s healing power is in Jesus, and Jesus is in us, then it should make it easier for us to understand, believe, and receive the healing our body needs, and for that matter for divine health. Along with keeping our faith strong by renewing our mind to the Word of God, we need to keep our body strong too. (Romans 12:2) According to 1 Corinthians 6:19, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; therefore, we should always make an effort to keep it strong so we are physically able to do the work of the Kingdom of God. Our spirit may be willing to obey God to witness to others, to teach a class, to help those in need, but if our body is weak then we are limited in what we can actually do.

Another thing to remember is that Jesus was tempted in all the ways that we are tempted, whether it’s temptation to sin or temptation to give up, give in, and accepted the sickness that the devil wants to place on us. Luke 4:13 says it this way, “And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him (Jesus) for a season.” What this tells me is that the devil doesn’t give up on trying to trap us with physical, emotional or mental pain, and though he may retreat for a time he will come back to see if we are standing strong in faith on the Word of God.

But if we keep our faith in God and remain strong and not become weary, we shall reap what we are believing for. (Galatians 6:9) Sometimes we lose our battle in receiving healing because we are not willing to spend the time it takes to get the written Word of God inside of us. Just because we’ve received healing before doesn’t mean the devil won’t fight us to keep us from receiving again or continue receiving the blessings of God. Now this is not to say that if you, or I, go to a doctor we are not in faith because that’s not true either, because that takes faith in God also. The ultimate goal for us is to know that Jesus is the Healer. Doctors don’t heal they just assist our bodies in the healing process; it’s Jesus who does the healing regardless of the avenue; I just believe that taking time to believe Jesus for healing is the best.

I encourage you to be diligent and disciplined to renew your mind to the Word of God, to speak faith-filled-words over your body and life so you can walk triumphantly in the blessings of God.
