When I Think Of Christmas
2December 7, 2022 by maryruwe
This is my personal rendition of what comes to my mind when I think of Christmas.
When I think of Christmas, I think of gifts and family gatherings. As I celebrate with my family and friends, I remember that we are a part of a much bigger family – the family of God.
The gifts I purchase remind me of the greatest gift of all, Jesus, God’s holy Son. As I purchase gifts for those who are special to me, I remember that we are special to God and that His plan of Salvation through Jesus delivers us out of the bondage of darkness and places us, as His children, into the Kingdom of God.
Giving gifts to family and friends, reminds me that Jesus also takes joy in giving us gifts: a restored relationship with our Heavenly Father; healing for our bodies so we can be healthy; prosperity so we can help others in need; wisdom for decisions each day; and His love and kindness in our hearts to help give comfort to others.
When I gaze at the different colored lights of red, green, and white that twinkle on the trees and the house tops of homes, the red reminds me of the Blood of Jesus that He shed for my sins; the green for eternal life; and the white for the purity He gives me in His holiness.
When I think of the Christmas bells ringing so cheerfully that bring attention to the season, it reminds me to praise God and give my attention to Jesus- the real Reason for the Season, and to be thankful to my Lord for His love and mercy.
When I see the Nativity with a babe in a manger, I am reminded that the baby grew up and became the Savior of the world. This in turn reminds me that I am to grow in the knowledge of the Word of God so He can change me from glory to glory in His likeness and image, and that I may complete His plan for my life.
As the special day of celebration draws near, I pray that you and I draw closer to the Jesus our Savior; that His love and light shining brightly in us draws others to Him.

Such a wonderful way to view Christmas!
Thanks Rosie.
