A Dream Of The Same But Different

The other night I had a dream and think God was imparting to me the significance of the believers and their callings in His Kingdom. Everyone has a different job. Everyone has a different personality – a tribute to His creativity! Although we are the same – believers in Jesus and have the same purpose of bringing Him glory – we are different in our callings.

The Dream:

The first scene: I was walking on a sidewalk, among some buildings; some taller and wider than others. There was a gathering of people standing in a circle, who seem to be praying. Some standing closer than others; some shoulder to shoulder, others at arms-length between them. But then I notice that there were “spaces” in the circle – like perhaps a person was missing.

The second scene: There was several tables with merchandise on them – mostly I only saw what looked like shirts with different saying on them. I couldn’t really read the words; I could only see that they were different words. There seemed to be workers walking around helping those who were walking by.

The third scene: I was walking through a building which seem to have different departments or rooms in it. It wasn’t really a store but looked more like a warehouse. As I entered the first-floor door, I heard “orders” being shouted out from other places in the building; some from the same floor I was on, but others echoed down from the high ceilings; echoing throughout.

Then I woke up…! The explanation or lesson to learn from the dream:

So what does this dream really mean was the question I asked God, and He began to explain the message to me.

Since I’ve been praying my Country (USA) for several years now; it is always on my heart to see her healed and prosperous and living (again) under the reign of Biblical Truths. I do believe that in the first scene, God was showing me that He has people everywhere praying. We may not look alike, or be in the same job vocation; but the truth is He has people in every walk of life who are prayer warriors, and we should never feel alone in our prayer assignments. Our first prayer assignment, of course, is to pray for “His will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.” But I also believe that not everyone is praying the same “topic” in their prayers at the same time. God is versatile and though we have the same goal in mind, our prayer  assignments may differ. The empty spaces I saw in the circle represents those who should be praying but who are not! They don’t take prayer seriously and therefore don’t really participate in this great privilege of praying for the Kingdom of God to be manifested on earth.

In the second scene, the tables with merchandise and with different words on them with the merchants walking about, represent the different ways that God’s Word is given to people in different cultures and languages. The merchants represent pastors, evangelists, and missionaries who work in the Kingdom of God to spread the Gospel of Jesus. The other people walking around the tables represent the world who are in need Salvation in Jesus; others walking need encouragement to stay the course in their faith; others needed healing; still others had various other needs.

In the third scene, the building represents the Church receiving its mandate from the Lord. Also, the buildings in the first scene are the individual churches throughout our Nation, and the world, who have different jobs in completing the “Great Commission” of spreading the Gospel. Each local church ministers to the people who attend them and the surrounding community; helping them grow in the knowledge and anointing of Jesus so each in turn can complete the purpose and calling God has given them.

As I meditated on this dream, I was reminded of First Corinthians 12 where Paul is teaching overall about the Spiritual Gifts and that is for another message; but I want to zero in on verses 5, 11, 12 and 18 for this message: “There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. One and the Same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as our natural body is one and has many members, so is the church one body but having many members of that one body. All believers are one body in Christ, and God has set each member in the body (of Christ) just as He please” with different assignments for that particular local church.

The point I want to point out, and the one God wants us to realize, is that He has many believers and He has a purpose and plan(s) for each of us. His believers are not just in the local church we attend, or the area where we live but throughout our Country and the world. We are one in the Lord; though we are different in many ways, one being our personality. As believers in Christ Jesus, we are of the same family of God. Though He has given each of us different talents, skills, and desires, we are the same – or should be the same – in our desire to live according to His Word and bring Him glory, being a witness to the lost around us that they are in need of Salvation that is only found in believing in Jesus the Son of God. (See John 3:15-17; John 14:6; Romans 10:9-10, 13).

So as I close this message, I want to encourage you to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33); and according to Psalm 139:22-24, ask Him to search your heart – for He knows it best – to see if there is any wickedness that has crept into your heart; and to lead you into (His) everlasting way.”  Yield your will, mind, and desires to His; for God is good and wants each of us to be successful and complete the purpose He has for our lives.

Wow, what an interesting dream. Thanks for sharing, Mary. Good reminder for me not to leave my post and create an open spot in the circle. I have done that before and I don’t want to forsake prayer. Thanks for the kick in the pants😉😉
