The Contrast Between Faith and Fear (an update)

thI really like this post from July 2014 and thought it would be good for us to review the difference between faith and fear.

Have you ever thought about the vast difference between faith and fear?  So different, yet they actually work by the same principle.  The results of each come about by what we think, and what we believe, and what we say.  Both are a result of the seed we’ve sown in our lives.  If it only takes faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains out of our lives (Matt 17:20), then it stands to reason that it will only take that much fear to bring mountains into our lives.  Faith is from God and its purpose is to bring His blessings to us, while fear is from the devil and its purpose is to bring destruction to us.  It really is that simple.  However it takes action on our part.  No matter how much God wants to bless us; wants to heal us and keep us healthy; wants to prosper us and give us good success, we are the other part of the equation.  God provides all we need but we have to believe with faith to bring those provisions into our lives.

The Bible does talk about the fear of man and the fear of God.  The difference is that the fear of man is based on rejection and will result in a snare or trap for us, but the fear – or reverence – of God is based on acceptance and is the beginning of wisdom and will result is our obedience to God and the blessings of God.  (Proverbs 29:25 and Proverbs 9:10)

Faith and fear are magnets. Fear draws lack.  Faith draws provision.

Faith and fear are expectations.   Fear expects the worst and brings defeat.  Faith expects the best and brings victory.

Faith and fear work the same way.  Anything believed in fear, fear can take from you.  Anything believed in faith, faith can bring to you.

Faith and fear come by listening.  Fear comes by listening to the lies of the devil.  Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

We grow our faith by the Word of God and we maintain our faith by the Word of God.  We must be a reader of the Word and a doer of the Word.  We must know who we are in Christ and how to walk according to the Word of God to receive His blessings.  Does that mean we will never have any troubles or problems or disagreements?  No.  But it does mean that we have God’s help to get the victory in every situation.  We must know that fear is NOT of God (2 Timothy 1:7), because God is love (1 John 4:8) and His love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).  There is torment in fear, but God’s love casts out fear.  (1 John 4:18).

Remember: fear is the tool that the devil uses to steal, kill and destroy us, but faith is the tool that God uses to bring His good blessings to us.

Check your expectation for every situation – healing, prosperity, restored relationship, etc.  Doubt and negativism are results of fear; hope and positiveness are results of faith.

So put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Re-affirm your faith daily in the Word.
