True Love

thSince many will be celebrating Valentine’s Day this week by giving their love ones cards and sweets, and maybe even dinner at a restaurant, I thought I would write on love.

The greatest love I’ve ever experienced is the Love of God.  It’s through His Son Jesus that opened my heart to receive this precious and powerful love that is holy, pure, and eternal.  I didn’t have to work for it or prove my worthiness, because I could never work hard enough or be good enough.

When I want to show someone how much I love them, I tell them that I love them; I spend time with them; I might even buy them a gift.   I’m sure you do too.

When we want to show God how much we love Him we need to do the same thing: tell Him with our praise and worship, spend time with Him by reading His Word and praying.  And the gift we can give Him?  Well, that is our obedience to His Word.

Everyone wants and needs to be loved; God created us that way.  God’s love is not about what we can do to get it but about what He did to give it to us.

As I was writing this post, I began to write this poem which sums up God’s great love for us.

Love is something we all want and need
Forgiveness and mercy are the basis for Heaven’s Seed

In God’s holiness, righteousness, and purity
He made a plan for us to come to Him securely

Sent from heaven to obtain and gather the lost
Jesus’ sacrificial Blood was the cost

He layed down His life on the Old Rugged Tree
To purchase back the creation made in the Image of the Trinity

Everyone wants and needs love
God shows us His love in His Son from above

May you experience God’s powerful and wonderful love this week and always.

John 3:16-17  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

1 John 1:4-10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
