God Sees The Heart

thAFM0E02MA few months ago, after a dream, I woke up with the thought: it doesn’t matter if our words are muffled and not clear because God sees our heart and therefore “hears” the words that come from our heart”.

Dream:

I wasn’t in my house but in a room or cabin. The TV was on and there were snacks and food on the table and counter in the kitchen. I was remembering an earlier conversation with my son about my grandson learning to crawl.

Then all at once, I was the one on the floor – on my stomach – trying to get up! I’m not sure if I had fallen because of pain in my leg, or perhaps from exercising, I only know that I was suddenly on the floor and could not get up.  I was struggling when my arm went down by my side and -I think, I “felt” another person’s arm. I couldn’t get up and it was as if I was being “pressed down”. Then, all at once, this pressure enveloped me, pressing me hard toward and onto the floor. I sensed that this was an evil presence and began to rebuke it, but it covered my mouth so I couldn’t speak!

I struggled to get the words out, trying to speak the Name of Jesus over that spirit, but my words were actually unrecognizable to the natural ear. BUT GOD heard them in my heart and answered to His Name being called – and that evil spirit left me. And, that’s when I woke up.”

I remember having a quick thought of amazement that God even heard me and then I heard Him say, “I saw your heart”.  Psalm 34:7 tells us that the Lord encamps around those who fear him and delivers them. God was there in my dream to show me that He is able and capable to deliver me from any and every kind of attack of the enemy.

Meaning of dream:

The house with the TV on and the snacks and food on the counter, and the conversation about my grandson learning to crawl represents everyday living.

Me struggling on the floor to get up is representative of an attack from the Satan, perhaps when we least expect it. We must remember that every physical pain (sickness and disease) has its origin from the devil. Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10)

Sickness, and poverty/or lack, are his two main areas of destruction. Sickness perhaps being the primary avenue because if he can get us sick and keep us sick, then he also has our prosperity! Not to mention also our time and peace.

We find in 1 Samuel 16:7 that the Lord told Samuel that He does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

I find this so very comforting in that God sees our heart and is able to help us when we cannot speak (as He showed me in the dream). However, it could also be a little dis-comforting if our heart is harboring things that should not be there. Such things as: unforgiveness, jealousy, covetousness, bitterness, resentment, hatred, strife, and murmuring. Maybe you can think of other-not-so-good things to add to the list. If you see yourself in that list, don’t despair, there is hope. The way to discover those things that don’t belong in our heart is to ask the Lord to search our heart, know our thoughts to see if there is any wicked way in our heart. (Psalm 139:23-24) The end of verse 24 gives indication that we are also to ask Him to lead us in the way of everlasting. That would mean that when God shows us something wrong in our heart, or what we’ve said or done, that is displeasing to Him, we are to repent, and endeavor to follow Him in the way that is everlasting (eternal).

The point I’m making is that the only way you and I can determine what has residence in our own heart is to ask ourselves is to this question: “what is God seeing in my heart?” If the Lord reveals to you that you are harboring something in your heart that He wants to free you from, then, thankfully, God has provided a way for us to be forgiven and delivered. First John 1:9 is the “go-to” Scripture: “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

So, go ahead, get your heart cleansed of anything that is holding you captive and receive the forgiveness the Lord Almighty has provided in the work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Go ahead and be encouraged and know that you can walk according to the Bible each and every day. Glory hallelujah, praise the Lord, thank you Jesus!
