Fear And Faith Are Choices

I was having difficulty writing this week’s post; nothing just seemed right; until this morning.  As I listened to all the news about the coronavirus and its possible devastation and hearing the fear in some people’s voices, I heard in my heart the Lord say, “fear and faith are choices”.   And it’s true.  We either choose to allow the fear of the possible destructiveness of the virus to reign in our thoughts and hearts, or we choose to allow our faith in God’s Word to reign in our thoughts and hearts.

Second Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

This tells us that fear is not a disease but a spirit; and since God does not give it to us, then it must come from somewhere else – the devil. We have the power in the Name of Jesus to speak healing and health into our bodies. Jesus has given us His Name which is above every name. (Philippians 2:9) Disease is a name. We are to imitate God by calling those things that are not – the healing we need – as though it is – that we are healed. (Romans 4:17)

We can control our thoughts by casting down fearful thoughts that are not of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5) We can walk in love as we imitate God’s love for us to others. (Ephesians 5:1 and 2 John 1:6) We can have a sound mind as we think on God’s Word according to what is noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, and praiseworthy to our God. (Philippians 4:8) This doesn’t mean we don’t take precautions to wash our hands and keep a safe distance from others as health advisors have said to do; it means we won’t allow fear to take over our thoughts and rule our lives. We do what is necessary in the natural realm and also in the spiritual realm by keeping our prayers and faith strong to keep safe.

Acts 10:38 says that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.

This tells us that healing is from God and sickness and disease is from the devil.  Sickness is destructive, and healing is constructive, if you would like to say it that way.

Deuteronomy 30:19 teaches us that blessing and cursing; life and death is set before us, therefore choose life.  How do we do that? By our words.  Proverbs 18:21 specifically says that death and life are in the power of the tongue and we eat the fruit thereof; which means what we say is what we have in our lives.

Choosing fear brings the fear results and is always negative and destructive, bringing the devil’s plan into our lives. Choosing faith brings the faith results and is always positive and constructive, bringing God’s plan into our lives.

I don’t know about you but I intend to choose life in Jesus by putting my faith in God’s Word and speaking His healing, health, and life into my life.  Be not afraid. Fear not. Only believe.

Have a great week.
