What Easter Means To Me

Happy Resurrection Day! What does the resurrection of Jesus mean to you? That’s the question asked this morning in our Sunday School class. Several people gave answers of what Jesus’ Resurrection means to them; I included. My answer is that because of Jesus’ Resurrection, I have been set free from the heartache of sadness of depression, and the fear of people (to name a couple of things), and of course, the gift of eternal life in Jesus. The Resurrection of Jesus means new life – eternal life for Christians believers.

For me, the Resurrection of Jesus means I have been raised up from depression and fear and have been set free to be to enjoy life. I have been set free to enjoy the friendships of others. I have been set free to receive and enjoy God’s love and acceptance of me. Does that mean that I am perfect? No. Jesus is the perfection that set me free. His sacrifice as the perfect Lamb of God paid the price for the wages of sin for the whole world; I just decided to accept His gift (when I was 6 years old). Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before because every day is a new beginning of my future; the old is no more; each day is bright and glorious when living for Jesus.

If you have not accepted Jesus as you Savior, today is a great day to make that decision. John 3:16-17 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” So, you are acceptable to God through Jesus. Romans 10:9-10 instructs us to believe in our heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

God loves you. Jesus died for you. God raised Jesus from the dead for you. God gave us Jesus as the gift of eternal life. Receive Him, live for Him, and enjoy the gifts and blessings of being a child of God. So again, I say, Happy Resurrection Day!
