Destroying The Yoke of Sickness

While reading a devotional on receiving the healing anointing of God for our bodies, Isaiah 20:27 was given as the scriptural basis: “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” This type of yoke refers to bondage – not that of an egg!

Sickness and diseases are oppressive tools that the devil uses to distract and delay our fulfilling of God’s plan for our lives, and according to John 10:10, also to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus also tells us in that same verse that He came to give us life, that we may have it more abundantly. Hallelujah!

If you need another scripture to verify this truth, we can look at Acts 10:38, of how God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.

So, I think that everyone should be able to agree that sickness is a bondage. Bondage is most often described by physical restraint either by force or influence. Sickness and disease steals from us because it demands our attention, our time, our finances, the health of our body, our emotional and mental strength, sometimes even our spiritual peace, and if not careful our faith in God’s Word. Therefore, we need to learn to maintain our concentration on what the Bible says so we can keep our faith strong.

Learn to monitor your thoughts closely that try to exalt themselves above what God has promised; then cast down those adverse thoughts by the words of your mouth. Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. The Good News Translation puts it this way, “What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so, you must accept the consequences of your words.” Speaking God’s Word calls the healing anointing power of God into existence to manifests the restoration of good health in our body (Romans 4:17).

The Bible is the written and anointed power of the Word of God and when spoken brings the abundant life Jesus came to give us. Hallelujah, glory to God.

Exodus 15:26, For I am the Lord who heals thee.

Isaiah 53:5, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Looking toward the Cross).

First Peter 2:24, Who Himself bore our sins in His own Body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed. (Looking back at the Cross).
